Save The Internet

One of your fellow subscribers, Martin, sent me an email with the above title
as the subject line. He included the following information.

"The internet is being "killed" by some big company. You can read the full
story here

http://civic.moveon.org/alerts/savetheinternet.html and sign a
petition to the government here

http://www.civic.moveon.org/save_the_internet/ to save the
internet."

So I did some checking to see what's happening.

Here's how one site describes the problem -

"Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. Your local library shouldn’t have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to have its Web site open quickly on your computer." read more...

You'll notice I've put a banner on the blog to support network neutrality because I am not ready to compete with Google and Yahoo and pay for internet users to access my sites.

Are you?
