Another Virus Warning

Today I found this virus warning from Hodges in my
inbox and am sending it to you as he wrote it.

I did scan my machine for the 2 files mentioned in
the article and didn't find them and suggest you do
the same. You can click the title to get to the
article.

Susan
------------------------------------------------

Hello Folks,

I thought you might find this interesting.

Below is an article on yet another virus.
What makes this so interesting is that it
was referenced through another article on
terrorism in Iraq.

One part of the article states that it does
not seem to affect the internet yet the
internet seems to be running at a very
slow pace. I have a DSL connection and
it takes almost 2-3 seconds longer for a
site to load today than normal.

God Bless,

Hodges

Credit Card Scam

Hodges sent this warning to me and think you need
to be aware of this current scam.

I have checked at Snopes.com and if you click
the article's title you will go to their site to
read this same information.

Please pay strict attention to this announcement
and save yourself some financial heartache.

The remedy is to ask for that persons name,
department, phone number and extension. Hang up
and call them back to make sure. At any rate you
should report all of these call to your cards
security department and to the police.

Thanks, Hodges, for the heads up.

Subject: VISA & MASTERCARD Telephone Credit
Card Scam

This information is worth reading. By understanding
how the VISA & Mastercard Telephone Credit Card
Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect
yourself.

Person calling says, "this is , and I'm
calling from the Security and Fraud Department at
VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has
been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and
I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA
card which was issued by bank. Did you
purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99
from a marketing company based in Arizona?"

When you say "No", the caller continues with,
"Then we will be issuing a credit to your account.
This is a company we have been watching and the
charges range from $297 to $497, just under the
$500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before
your next statement, the credit will be sent to
(gives you your address), is that correct?"

You say "yes" The caller continues... "I will be
starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any
questions, you should call the 1-800 number listed
on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for
Security. You will need to refer to this Control
#" The caller then gives you a 6 digit number.
"Do you need me to read it again?"

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works.
The caller then says, "he needs to verify you are
in possession of your card". He'll ask you to
"turn your card over and look for some numbers.
There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are your card
number, the next 3 are the 'Security Numbers' that
verify you are in possession of the card. These
are the numbers you use to make Internet purchases
to prove you have the card. Read me the 3 numbers".
After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say,
"That is correct. I just needed to verify that
the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you
still have your card. Do you have any other
questions?" After you say No, the caller then
Thanks you and states, "Don't hesitate to call back
if you do", and hangs up.

You actually say very little, and they never ask
for or tell you the card number. But after we were
called on Wednesday, we called back within 20
minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did!
The REAL! VISA Security Department told us it was
a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase
of $497.99 was charge on on our card.

Long story made short, we made a real fraud report
and closed the VISA card, and they are reissuing
us a new number. What the scammers wants is the
3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't
give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call
VISA or Master card direct. The real VISA told us
that they will never! ask for anything on the card
as they already know the information since they
issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3
Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a
credit. However, by the time you get your
statement, you'll see charges for purchases you
didn't make, and by then it's almost to late
and/or harder to actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on
Thursday, I got a call from a "Jason Richardson of
MasterCard" with a word-for-word repeat of the
VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I
hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed
by VISA. The police said they are taking several
of these reports daily! They also urged us to
tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.

Please pass this on to all your friends. By
informing each other, we protect each other.

Thank-You

-----------------------

And Thank You Hodges for making us aware.

Online Tutorials Build Computer Skills - FREE

- by Jim Edwards

© Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved
http://www.IGottaTellYou.com
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

It's a problem as old as computers...

Trying to read, understand, and use a software manual to
quickly learn how to operate a new software program rates
one of the most frustrating experiences you can face.

If you browse the computer section of the local book store,
Amazon.com... or even look at a Video Professor disk on TV
to try accelerating your learning curve, you'll soon find
that a book (usually thicker than the original manual!)
costs at least $29-59 and a simple tutorial on CD-Rom costs
a minimum of $59 plus shipping and handling.

Learning how to operate you computer and basic software can
be very frustrating, not to mention expensive!

But what most people don't realize is that basic computer,
software, and other training is readily available online,
some of it as good or better than those introductory
courses that cost you a chunk of money.

Would you like to learn how to set up a web page?

Do you want to learn how to use your word processor for
accomplishing more than just typing simple letters?

How about learning to buy and sell like a pro at online
auction sites like eBay?

** Find Tutorials **

Log on to www.findtutorials.com and browse through hundreds
of tutorials!

Want to learn how to use Microsoft FrontPage?

Do a quick search for "FrontPage" and up pops a number of
free tutorials to teach you everything from creating basic
hyperlinks to working with javascript.

Though not all the tutorials are free, many of the
tutorials listed come free of charge since the sites
hosting the classes contain the usual advertising most of
us have come to expect online.

After plowing through the site, you'll find some categories
contain more available classes than others, but this site
rates a serious look and a bookmark so you can check back
on a regular basis.

Investigate here first before spending money on training,
especially for introductory software help and general
computer instruction.

** Learn To Use eBay **

If you want to learn how to use eBay, instead of spending
money on a book or online course, why not go straight to
the source?

Log on to http://pages.ebay.com/education/ for the best
free education available when it comes to learning how
to buy and sell on eBay.

Let's face it: the more successful you are as a buyer or
seller, the more money eBay makes!

It makes sense that they should provide a very detailed and
helpful overview, as well as an extensive help section.

If you want a free "basic training" on eBay, start with
eBay's site, then move on to third party information
products if you want to expand your education.

** Microsoft Office Training **

Most people really have no clue how to use most of the
features that come built into Microsoft Word, let alone the
rest of Office.

You can do some really impressive stuff with Office, if you
know what it can do.

Log on to www.computertim.com for an extensive collection
of articles to help you learn how to operate various
Microsoft Office programs more efficiently, including:
Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, and FrontPage.

Some articles might need updating periodically, but most of
them make an excellent starting point when exploring new
features.

** More Sites **

The following sites also offer free online training,
however, understand that many of them use the
introductory courses as a lead-in to get you to purchase
additional books, classes, or other advanced instruction.

www.lgta.org
Land-Grant Training Alliance - teaches you how to use
various software packages online and even has an
interesting tutorial on how to use the Internet as a
teaching tool to help others.

www.trainingtools.com
Offers a variety of introductory training courses for
software packages dealing primarily with website
creation, installing scripts and making your website do
cool things!

www.learnthat.com/courses/
Offers a variety of courses on everything from computer
training and software packages to even dealing with some
hardware issues and how to purchase the right digital
camera.

Social Security Facts - According to Snopes.com

I received email from Tim stating that the
correct facts concerning the previous
article could be found at:

http://www.snopes.com/cgi-bin/news/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000003

You can click on the article's title to go
there.

I started to write a summary of the information
found but since I don't want to get into a
debate over this issue, I'll just say that
I did read the page and went to the links that
are still working (some of them don't).

Thanks for sending the link Tim.

How To Manage Your Time

As I type this article I am listening to
an audio e-book on time management.

In this talking-ebook Michael Green,
the famous How To tool kit expert, shares
12 powerful time management tools that
every online marketer should follow.

Now to be honest, I have peeked ahead
in the e-book to see what some of these
rules are. Guess what I discovered?

I discovered that not only does he give
and explain 12 time management rules that
we could apply to almost every aspect of
our lives but he also lists 3 important
Don'ts that are just as important.

This e-book is worth every cent that it
normally sells for ($47.00) but I got
it for free and so can you.

Right now you can get this e-book and
the resale rights - free. Just go click
on the title of this article and join

How To Build A Responsive Mailing List

I recently ran an ad for one of my
internet friends, Hodges Hines. In
case you missed the ad I am making
the information available here because
the e-book he published holds a vast
amount of information.

The e-book, "Travels Through Cyberspace,
Vol.1-How To Build A Responsive Mailing
List With $100" contains information
gathered from eight online publishers.

I could give you the names of the eight
publishers but instead I will give you
the nicknames Hodges as given them and
let you guess which one I am. Oh, did
I forget to mention that I am one of
the contributors? Well I am and here is
the list to chose from:

The Canadian Mountie
The Little Princess
The Enforcer
The Man From Belgium
Mr. Happy Go-Lucky
The Lady Conqueror
Mr. Steady
Busy As A Bee

Each of these publishers wrote from their
own experiences and no two are alike.
Some spent the $100 and other didn't but
they all lay it all out and tell you
exactly what they did.

Right now Hodges is offering a 30%
discount on his "Travels Through
Cyberspace" e-book to the subscribers of
the FriendsWhoCare Newsletter. See for
yourself but don't buy from this link:

Instead, click the title of this
article so you can receive the
discount.

PS: Hodges gave you his email address in the
ad because he believes so strongly in the
material that if you buy it and you don't
think TTC is good stuff, he'll refund the
purchase amount and let you can keep the
bonuses. I'll repeat that information here:

Reasons To Get Moving On Your Business

I read these statistics a couple of years
ago when I was first thinking of starting
an online business and had them posted on
my site for awhile. During the last two
years things haven't changed that much so
I thought I would share them with you to
remind you of why you're working so hard.

The Bad News:

* 80% of the mothers have to work to make
ends meet

* 1 out of 5 parents has to work 2 jobs
just to pay living expenses

* 93% of the Americans who should reach the
age of 65 are either dead or dead broke.

The following facts were confirmed in a study by the
US Department of Labor Statistics:

* 28% are dead

* 2% are still working

* 63% depend on their family and social security

* After 40 odd years of hard work, 93% are
in poverty... yes, POVERTY.

"Poverty" is defined as a family of 2 with
an annual income of $12,120 or just $233
a week (For a family of 2, according to the
2003 HHS Poverty Guidelines)!

Here are some more disturbing facts:

* The majority of men had more money (cash)
at age 18 then they do at age 68, after
50 years of hard work! (Denby's Economic
Tables, 1990)

* 85 out of 100 people have less than $250
in cash at the time they officially retire!
(Social Security Administration, 1990)

* 33% of all senior citizens live well below
the current established poverty level!
(Social Security Administration, 1990)

* Social Security payments are the major
source of income (50% or more) for 63%
of those aged 65 or older and it's the
ONLY source of income for 18% of all retirees!
(Social Security Administration, 1998)

The Good News:

* 74% of those who are financially secure
got that way by owning their own business

If these statistics don't get you moving on
your own business - nothing will.

Susan

Sending Old Men To War

A fellow subscriber sent this to me and I
thought I should share because we can all
use a good chuckle once in awhile.

Sending Old Men To War

If I could, I'd enlist today and help my country
track down those responsible for killing thousands
of innocent people in New York City and Washington,
DC But, I'm over 50 now and the Armed Forces say
I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be
older than 35 to join the military.

They've got the whole thing backwards. Instead of
sending 18-year-olds off to fight, they ought to
take us old guys.

You shouldn't be able to join until you're at least
35. For starters:

Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every
10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple
of times a day, leaving us more that 28,000
additional seconds per day to concentrate on the
enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky,
and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. If
we can't kill the enemy we'll complain them into
submission. "My back hurts!" "I'm hungry!"
"Where's the remote control?"

An 18-year-old hasn't had a legal beer yet and you
shouldn't go to war until you're at least old
enough to legally drink. An average old guy, on
the other hand, has consumed 126,000 gallons of
beer by the time he's 35 and a jaunt through the
desert heat with a backpack and M-60 would do
wonders for the old beer belly.

An 18-year-old doesn't like to get up before 10
a.m. Old guys get up early every morning to pee.

If old guys are captured we couldn't spill the
beans because we'd probably forget where we put
them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would
be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would actually be easier for old guys.
We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and
we actually like soft food. We've also developed
a deep appreciation for guns and rifles. We like
them almost better than naps.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course
however. I've been in combat and didn't see a
single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the
side, nor did I ever do any pushups after
completing basic training. I can hear the Drill
Sergeant now, "Get down and give me...er...one."

And the running part is kind of a waste of energy.
I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him.
He's still learning to shave, to actually carry on
a conversation, and to wear pants without the top
of his butt crack showing and his boxer shorts
sticking out. He's still hasn't figured out that
a pierced tongue catches food particles, and that
a 400-watt speaker in the back seat of a Honda
Accord can rupture an eardrum. All great reasons
to keep our sons at home to learn a little more
about life before sending them off to possible
death.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten
cowards who attacked our hearts on September 11.
The last thing the enemy would want to see right
now is a couple of million old farts with
attitudes.

Share this with your senior friends (It's
purposely in big type for us old guys...)

Why I Love TheGuruMarketer.com

When Ian Herculson over at TheGuruMarketer.com released his new 'Smart Subscriber' program a few months ago he got rave reviews within a few days from some of the internet's TOP marketers like;

- Jerome Chapman
- Mr. Joe Vitale
- Jason Mangrum
- Bryan Winters
- Diane Hughes
- Rod Lynn
- Jason Anderson
- Doug West

Now I don't know what they were raving about but I will tell you what I like about this program. It's a ready made ezine where I get all the affiliate commissions.

When this program first came out I recommended it and I still do even though none of my 'Smart Subscriber' downline have built their own downline.

Now that may sound foolish on my part since everyone is suppose to be building a downline to make more money. But the truth is - most people won't and I don't care.

Why don't I care?

Simple, I don't promote the 'Smart Subscriber' program anywhere but in my newsletter. I do promote the TheGuruMarketer.com newsletter in lots of places and get regular subscribers to it.

TheGuruMarketer.com ezine advertises the 'Smart Subscriber' program and lots of other things. Now I am getting checks from several of the affiliate programs I have never had time to advertise because my GuruMarketer subscribers are buying things.

I love getting unexpected money. Don't you?

And TheGuruMarketer.com ezine is really easy to promote because it has some really great bonuses for those who sign up.

So that's why I love the 'Smart Subscriber' program:

1. It offers something of value to get subscribers
2. I find the subscribers and someone else does all the work of mailing things out
3. I get all the commissions for all the purchases

Oh, I should also mention that the affiliate programs it promotes are top notch. Most are free affiliate programs but some aren't and you are not pressured into signing up for any of them. In fact, even though I was already an affiliate of most of the programs before I became a 'Smart Subscriber' there are still a couple I haven't joined.

You can read all about the 'Smart Subscriber' program
here OR try it FR.E.E for 14 days!!!

http://www.friendswhocare.us/super.htm

(Sorry, you'll have to copy and paste the link for the 'Smart
Subscriber' program because the link for the title will take you to TheGuruMarketer.com offer.)

Grand Opening of the Free Resale Rights Vault

June 1 was the Official Grand Opening of the Free Resale Rights Vault.

Mark Hendricks and Michael Nicholas created this site to help others with their list building efforts.

If you want free resale rights To hot-selling digital products or free products to give away as lead generators and bonuses to build your list then you need to check this site out.

If you have a great digital product that you can contribute to this program then you should check out this site because it's also a joint venture to get new subscribers for those who contribute the products.

I haven't contributed anything to this program yet but I have been in similar joint ventures with Mark and have done extremely well.

I have checked out the free products to give away and picked up a few that I will be using very shortly

This is great site that I highly recommend.

To Your Success,
Susan

New Affiliate Information

I wanted to tell you about a brand new website Russell Brunson has just created...

Don't worry - this one is completely free...

and I must say that this one got me very excited. It's a completely new idea that could make you a ton in affiliate commissions this year.

It's called Affiliate Power Ads. They work like Google's Adsense, but instead of earning a few cents per click - you can earn up to $100 and monthly residual commissions from every click.

It will take you 5 minutes to set it up, but you will earn commissions for a lifetime.

You might want to sign up now while it's free!
